Trade Ministry to transform economic fortunes of Central Region

The Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr. K.T. Hammond has announced that the Government is committed to transforming the economic fortunes of the Central Region.

“The Central Region economy boasts of wealth ranging from its assets as a hub of education, tourism, mining and fisheries among others”, he emphasized.

Mr. K.T Hammond who doubles as the Member of Parliament(MP) for Adansi Asokwa Constituency made these known in a speech read on his behalf by the Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Dr. John-Hawkins Aseidu during the official opening of the 2023 Central Region Trade Investment and Tourism Fair dubbed; “Central Expo” in Cape Coast.

The programme which was held with the theme “Sustaining Business Opportunities Through Networking and Investment for Economic Growth”, was fully financed by the TIAST Group, a company that originated from China and has extended its services to Africa.

Mr. K.T Hammond stated Government’s commitment to sustainable business growth at the regional and district level was not mere rhetoric.

He underscored government’s readiness to investing in jobs through manufacturing tradable goods based on the natural resource endowments and competitive advantage of each location.

According to him, Central Region has benefited from the unprecedented push by the Government and response from the private sector to decentralize industrial development and spread job creation.

“I am happy to note that the Central Region has 21 1D1F projects at various stages of implementation, that is 9 factories in operation and 12 under construction across the Central Region”.

“Let us work together to sustain business growth, create jobs, and propel the Central Region’s economy to even greater heights”, Mr. K.T Hammond pleaded.

The Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan said her dream for the Central Expo was to stimulate economic activities in different parts of the region and beyond as well as to focus on the development of agro business.

“Am committed to the promotion of domestic tourism and above all attract private sector investment into the region to transform our local economy”, Mrs. Marigold Assan stated.
