NPP seems to have a better chance to win KEEA seat with Percy-Assemblyman

Story: Hajia Asana Gordon

In line with the governing New Patriotic Party’s(NPP) parliamentary primaries in orphan constituencies slated for 2nd December this year, a number of the party faithful in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem(KEEA) constituency are rooting for one aspiring parliamentary hopeful, Mr. Percyval Dennis Quaicoe.

They say, NPP has a better chance to win the seat in KEEA, if Percy Quaicoo is elected as the parliamentary candidate for the party.

The KEEA parliamentary seat has traditionally been a National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) seat since 1992, until 2004, when Dr. Paa Kwasi Nduom won it on the ticket of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) for one term.

In 2012, the Head of Local Government Service and former MP for KEEA, Ing Dr. Nana Ato Arthur became the first candidate to win the seat for the NPP.

The party seems to have a better chance to win KEEA seat this time around, after years of rejection.

In an exclusive interview with Mynewsgh.com reporter, Hajia Asana Gordon, the Assembly Member for Ankaful Electoral Area, Mr. Benedict Ackon stated that Percy Quaicoe could pull a big surprise in both the parliamentary primaries and the general elections due to his support to the youth, irrespective of their political colours.

He described Percy Quaicoe as a “homeboy, humble and best to represent the aspirations of the electorate of KEEA in the next parliament.

“As am speaking to you, some opposition NDC, Convention People’s Party(CPP) and Progressive People’s Party(PPP) voters of KEEA are lacing their boots to give the Member of Parliament(MP) for the Area, Mr. Samuel Atta Mills a hot chase”, according to the Assemblyman.

“I can tell you that some of the NDC polling station executives, constituency executives, PPP and other political parties are yearning to have Percy as their Member of Parliament”, he disclosed.

Mr. Ackon said Percy Quaicoe who double as the Central Regional first Vice-Chairman, is easily approachable.

According to him, the aspiring parliamentary candidate for NPP had given opportunities to so many people in the  constituency, including scholarships, jobs and chance to travel abroad.

“Even some of the aspirants are campaigning against Percy Quaicoe for supporting other political party members instead of focusing on his(Percy) party people”, he added.
