Assin South District Assembly

A former Assemblymember and government appointee, Mr. Kwame Amoakoh Okyere has been elected as the new Presiding Member for the Assin South District Assembly after an unsuccessful attempt in march 2022.

In an election held at Assin Nsuem on Wednesday 13th July, 2022, and supervised by the Ajumako District Electoral Officer, Samuel Ocran Aikins, Mr. David Kwame Amoakoh Okyere polled 29 votes out of the 35 total votes cast, whilst his contender Mr. Frank Owusu, the current Assemblymember for the people of Assin Homaho obtained 5 votes, with one rejected ballot.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Amoakoh Okyere expressed gratitude to the members of the Assembly for reposing trust in him.

He therefore urged the Assemblymembers to exhibit togetherness and unity and work towards development in Assin South.

The District Chief Executive, Madam Felicia Amissah Ntrakwah lauded the house for endorsing the PM, describing it as a testimony of their poise to enhance the development of the area.

She reminded the members of the assembly to avoid politicizing issues and rather think of how best they could support development initiatives in the area.
