Good Reading habit in Early Childhood; A step to achieving Academic Excellence- Education Director

The Assin Fosu Municipal Education Director, Ms. Mercy Akua Lissar has called on all stakeholders in education to help inculcate the habit of reading in children during their early childhood stage as that would influence their academic performance.

“This can be achieved by demonstrating that reading is fun and enjoyable”.

She made the statement when the Municipal Education Directorate in collaboration with USAID and Ghana Library Authority organized a Reading Festival under the theme: Learn to Read, Read to Learn for Public Basic Schools in the Assin Fosu Municipality.

The programme was aimed at supporting the early grade learners in public schools to improve their vocabulary, encourage and stimulate their interest in reading both Ghanaian and English languages.

Assin Fosu Circuit “A” schools were crowned the winners after a tight competition between 5 different circuits.
