The Government has called on Teacher Unions to call off the ongoing industrial action over the Cost of Living Allowance (CoLA).
At an emergency meeting on Friday, 8th July, 2022, represented by the Ministers for Employment and Labour Relations, Finance, Education and National Security on one hand and Organized Labour, the government assured the striking teachers of its commitment to resolve the issue.
“Government has taken note of the demand by Organized Labour for 20% Cost of Living Allowance (CoLA) in the light of the current economic conditions prevailing in the country”.
A statement signed by the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour-Awauh, indicated that the parties have agreed to reconvene on Tuesday 12th July, 2022, to begin negotiations.
Meanwhile, the Public Sector Workers Union of the Trade Union Congress made up of about 27,000 workers has given the government a seven day ultimatum to pay the COLA or they embark on a strike.
They disclosed this at a meeting in Accra on Friday.

How is it that some Ghanaians enjoy soo much to the detriment of others. How should some people be treated as first class citizens and others second. We all deserve to receive better remunerations
