The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Mobile Money Limited, Mr Shaibu Haruna says the company’s MoMo subscribers stand at 11.3 million.
According to him, the success story is due to the efforts of mobile money agents and merchants in the country.
“It has been a challenging year with the introduction of the e-levy, coupled with the challenges our customers faced during the sim barring exercise and also the challenging economic environment we find ourselves but our resilience as a people has enabled us to soldier on”, the CEO of MoMo stressed.
“These issues put a lot of pressure on the entire business. However, while we continue to face these challenges, we enthusiastically serve our customers with joy and pride”.
Mr Shaibu Haruna made the disclosure at the 2022 MTN momo agents and merchants awards in Takoradi.
The award ceremony was to acknowledge the momo agents and merchants for their immense contribution towards the success of MTN momo in Ghana.
“In 2009, we set out to redefine the course of Ghana’s financial sector with the launch of MoMo. It has
been a little over a decade now and the impact and success stories have been immeasurable. This has
come about because of the unwavering commitment and contributions of you, our cherished
stakeholders and partners”, the CEO of momo remarked.
Nearly three hundred momo agents and merchants were awarded in Takoradi for the South-west category of the momo awards.
Over thousand four hundred momo agents and merchants are expected to be awarded across the country.
Mr Shaibu Haruna touched on momo fraud issue and urged stakeholders, particularly momo agents to continue to educate customers to make MTN MoMo the most preferred digital payment platform in Ghana.
The South-west Regional Senior Manager of MTN, Prince Owusu Nyarko, hoped stakeholders would continue to support the MoMo success story.
