Twelve people perished and one in a critical condition, after a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number WR 1347- 17 collided head-on with DAF Truck with registration number GM 2570-12 at Eduegyei on the Cape Coast-Takoradi highway on Wednesday late afternoon.
The dead included seven males and five females.
According to eyewitnesses, the DAF Truck which was coming from Takoradi towards Cape Coast was overtaking a vehicle in a poor visibility area due to smoke from the bush and run into the Toyota Hiace bus which was traveling from Kumasi to Takoradi.
The driver of the truck according to the police bolted after the incident and have thus launched an investigation into the matter.

The Ghana National Fire Service personnel who visited the scene disclosed that all the victims were sent to the Cape Coast Teaching hospital.
