Protocol Recruitment in the Security Service is a Threat to National Security -NCCE

The Assin Fosu Municipal Director of the National Commission For Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Paul Tetteh has called for a reformation of the recruitment procedure in the state security institutions.

Speaking with this reporter, the NCCE Director said that “since we no more carry out background investigations on the recruits, criminal elements have managed to infiltrate the ranks of the security services such as police, military, immigration service among others.
He stated that, the situation is partly due to the high level of protocol recruitment by persons in authority.

“It is the reason why we are experiencing some level of unprofessional conduct by some security personnel and it thus pose danger to the country’s peace and security”.

Mr Paul Tetteh called for the amendment of the Constitution that gives prerogative powers to the president to appoint heads of security agencies such as ‘IGP’ to ensure that the security institutions administer their duties professionally without interference.
