KEEA MCE Presents Outboard Motors to Fishermen

Municipal Chief Executive for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem(KEEA), Mr Solomon Ebo Appiah has presented outboard motors to 14 fishermen in the area.

The presentation forms part of government’s subsidized outboard motor policy being implemented by the Ministry of Food and Aqua Culture to support fishermen.

The outboard motors have come at a time when fishermen in the area have been complaining about their inability to procure the equipment due to high costs.

The current price of one Outboard Motor is twenty-four thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢24,000).

These outboard motors are however highly subsidized at  Gh10,000 to cushion the fisherfolk.

He disclosed that the ongoing Elmina fishing harbour project would be completed by next year,  January 2023 to enhance the Industry.

Mr Ebo Appian pleaded with the people to show appreciation to  President Akufo-Addo for the divers developmental projects he is embarking upon in the area.

The fishermen led by the chief fisherman of Elmina, Nana Badu thanked the government of Ghana for the initiatiative and called for more supply of the products to meet the increasing needs of the fisherfolk.
