Residents of Aboabo Camp in the Assin South District of the Central Region have threatened a massive demonstration against their Member of Parliament (MP), Rev. John Ntim Fordjour over the constant failure of promises to lobby for telecommunication network service for the area.

According to the irate residents, the MP who doubles as the Deputy Education Minister, in the heat of the 2020 elections promised to lobby for a network service for the area to curtail the difficulties they go through to make calls.

“He mounted a telecommunication tower powered by solar and said he will commission it within two weeks but has since not stepped foot in the town, worsening our situation”, they told Angel News Reporter Kwame Owusu, Asante Shadrack.

Currently, residents including the aged risk their lives by climbing cocoa and mango trees among others before they are able to make phone calls, since it is the only option available.

“A 13-year-old boy died as a result of a snake bite in search for a network service”, they cried.

Meanwhile, the convenor of the residents, Mohammed Munidu noted that, “Assin Aboabo Camp is widely known for its massive production of both food stuff and cash crops but lack of accessible telecommunication network in the area, is hugely affecting businesses”.

The situation according to him has  also affected students’ academic performance, as teachers fail to stay in the town due to the lack of telecommunication network.

Mohammed Munidu was disappointed the MP had consistently failed to honour his promises including reshaping the poor road network in the area.

Efforts to speak to the Member of Parliament for the area failed, as phone calls made and messages sent to him in an attempt to speak to the MP, were not answered.
