Mankessim Abor Junction Accident kills Two Persons

The Central Regional Office of the Ghana National Fire Service has reported that two persons (male and female) lost their lives with seven other persons injured, when a Toyota Voxy vehicle with registration number AS 8911-25 crashed at Abor junction near Mankessim.

A statement released to the media said “on Thursday, 6th August 2026, at 0144 hours, a distress call was received at the Mankessim Fire Station regarding a road traffic collision at Abor Junction on the Mankessim–Accra Highway”.

“The rescue team from Mankessim Fire Station, in collaboration with the National Ambulance Service, was promptly dispatched at 0145 hours and arrived at the scene at 0201 hours”, the statement added.

“Upon arrival, the crew observed a crashed Toyota Voxy vehicle with registration number AS 8911-25. They encountered nine victims, comprising injured two females and five males, with two individuals, one male and one female, confirmed deceased at the scene. The team quickly secured the area and assisted the victims into the ambulance for urgent transport to medical facilities”, it explained.

Three of the injured were taken to Mercy Women Catholic Hospital in Mankessim, while the two deceased were transported to Saltpond Government Hospital in Saltpond.

The cause of the accident is currently unknown; however, it is noted that the driver escaped without injury.

The crew proceeded to clear the scene of debris to mitigate the risk of secondary accidents.
