Fire has destroyed four bedroom self-contained apartment that belongs to the parents of Ex-Journalist, Oscar Adawu Dadzie at Assin Fosu.
The unfortunate incident was said to have occurred around midnight on Saturday when the victims who are in their 70s were fast asleep.
Even though there were no casualties, properties worth millions of Ghana Cedis were burnt to ashes by the inferno.
The victims have however been rushed to the hospital for medical attention since they were suffocated in the process.
Eyewitnesses who spoke with Rich Fm and Angel Fm/TV News Reporter Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack explained that they got noticed of the incident, when there were flames and smoke in the sky from the victim’s residence accompanied by slim voices shouting for help.
They rushed to the scene and with the help of other neighbors who were equally awakened by the sound of the explosion caused by the raging fire, brought the situation under control.
An eyewitness said, they placed calls to the fire service station but were directed to the National Headquarters of the Ghana National Fire Service, Accra, and were also redirected to Cape Coast before Assin Fosu.
“So by the time the firefighters arrived around 2 am everything had been consumed by the fire beyond recognition including the roofing,” they said.
The fire service has however launched an investigation into the matter to ascertain the cause of the fire outbreak and also to assess the extent of damage.
