C/R: Dankyira Nyinawusu Tanker accident kills two persons
Two persons were confirmed dead by the National Ambulance Service, after their bodies were extricated by Diaso Fire personnel from an accident involving a Tricycle and a Fuel Tanker at Denkyira Nyinawusu in the Central Region.
According to the Central Regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana National Fire Service, DOII Abdul Wasiu Hudu, the accident occurred on Thursday afternoon.
“Fire personnel received a call around 1205hrs Thursday afternoon and rushed to the scene. They further informed the National Ambulance Service with the hope of saving lives”.
The Fire PRO said after the fire personnel extricated the two male riders, their bodies were handed over to the National Ambulance Service, who in turn handed them over to the Ghana Police Service for preservation and further investigation.
“After the extrication, the fire personnel had to manage the leaking Tanker to prevent explosion”.
DOII Abdul Wasiu Hudu indicated that the Fire personnel engaged in temporal cooling of the Tanker, whiles waiting for another Tanker to arrive and discharge the content in the Tanker.
“The police are also directing road users as half of the road has been blocked by the incident”, he stated.
Eye witnesses revealed the Tanker was traveling from Accra to Subin, developed a fault and was parked by the road side, when the tricycle initiated the curve and ran into the stationary Tanker
