Gomoa Buduatta accident; 39 people injured, 6 in critical condition

At least six people were in critical condition and thirty-three others also sustained various degrees of injuries, when a State Transport Company (STC) bus with registration number, GB 1079-20 was involved in an accident at Gomoa Buduatta on the Accra-Winneba Highway.

Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle, which was running at a high speed, lost control after it negotiated a curve, hit a tipper truck and fell on the other side of the road.

“The passengers, majority of whom were students were traveling from Accra to Takoradi, when the unfortunate incident occurred”, according to reports.

The Public Relations Officer for the Central Regional branch of the Ghana National Fire Service,
Divisional Officer 3 (DOIII) Abdul Wasiu Hudu disclosed, “Six (6) out of the total number of thirty-nine casualties who were sent to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital and the Effutu Municipal Hospital are in critical conditions”.

“The windscreen (front and rear) of the STC got totally damaged, whiles the tipper truck had its windscreen (front) and the inner door partially damaged”, he stated.

The driver’s mate of the tipper truck with registration number: GN 7832-22, also suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital.
