Fast track Chieftaincy cases in court to foster Peace  – Chief Appeals

The Chief of Assin Dansame in the Assin North District of the Central Region, Nana Okofo Twum Berima IV has said that protracted chieftaincy dispute among traditional leaders in the area and Ghana at large impedes development.

He therefore appealed to the judicial service and the national house of chiefs to expedite action on chieftaincy cases brought before them to avoid undue delay which stifles development and socioeconomic growth.

Nana Okofo Twum Berima IV urged chiefs and prospective ones to be sure they are rightful royals before they ascend onto any royal stool to avert unnecessary tension which is likely to distort the peace of the people.

He made the comments when addressing the Assin Dansame Community after a High Court in Assin Fosu presided by His Lordship John Bosco Nabarase ruled in his favor on a chieftaincy litigation which has existed in court for the past 12 years.

He was however happy that the long-standing dispute has finally been settled because it divided the people as some suffered machete injuries as a result.

Meanwhile, the Assemblymember for the area, Hon. Mike Nti Ballack, called on the media to help restore and project the good image of the town to attract investors and also appealed to government officials who stopped visiting the town due to the divisions among the chiefs to start touring the area again since the issues have been resolved amicably.

Some of the community members who were happy that calmness had been restored, pleaded with all the factions to forget about the past and forge ahead in unity to sustain the peace and development of the area.
