The Member of Parliament for Abura Asebu Kwamankese(AAK) Constituency, Mr. Elvis Morris Donkor has provided filtered mechanised borehole facilities to some deprived communities that suffered decades of acute potable drinking water shortage in the area.
Mr. Morris Donkor who stormed seven communities within Abura Asebu Kwamankese to commission the facilities, appealed to the beneficiaries to take good care of the mechanized boreholes to prolong their lifespan.
He mentioned the provision of potable drinking water as one of his social intervention policies and “would extend same to other communities that are in dire need of water to enable the residents have access to good drinking water to improve their health”.
Mr. Morris Donkor stated that during his visit to his constituency, the residents mentioned lack of potable drinking water and the deplorable road network as their immediate need, hence the need to provide them with mechanized borehole facilities, indicating that water is life.
The Member of Parliament therefore vowed to serve his constituents to their expectation and never disappoint them.
According to him, he had done tremendous developmental projects in his constituency as an MP and they include the construction of a number of classroom blocks, Healthcare centers, roads and provisions of 80,000 palmnut seedlings to the farmers in his constituency among others.
Beneficiaries who spoke to Mynewsgh.com reporter, Hajia Asana Gordon disclosed that it was the first time in history that residents of Esandorkrom community had tasted potable drinking water since they only relied on stream water.
According to them, majority of the residents within Esandorkrom community experience skin aliment and typhoid due to lack of potable.
They therefore expressed appreciation to the MP for the gesture, adding that the borehole would go a long way to help reduce the challenges they go through in accessing drinking water.
