The General Manager in charge of Network Operations at MTN Ghana, Magnus Coffie, has expressed worry that Fiber cuts remains a big challenge to MTN in their bid to provide quality network service for customers.
“Every year, because of these road construction and infrastructure activities, we have to be relocating the fiber infrastructure and we spend about 20million Ghana cedis on the relocation alone”, Mr Coffie emphasized .
He indicated that “the practice poses security risk because when it happens like that, it cuts off communication across several areas and it causes congestion, as the remaining available routes may not be able to carry the traffic”.
The General Manager in charge of Network Operations made the disclosure at this year’s MTN Media and Stakeholder Engagement in Elmina in the Central Region of Ghana.

For the countless network challenges in the Central Region, Magnus Coffie specifically mentioned the Kasoa-Winneba road construction as a major cause of the problem.
He further called for collaboration between MTN Ghana and agencies in charge of construction work in the country to enable the company continue to provide better services for customers.
Mr Coffie pointed out that the company was bringing onboard varied innovation in the area of Artificial Intelligence amongst other technologies to better the lives of customers.
He however called on the media to create awareness on the challenges MTN Ghana faced, including cable theft that were impacting negatively on the company’s efforts to provide quality services.
A panel discussion on the activities of MTN Ghana centered on topics such as; Ambition 2025, the company’s Products and Services, Network issues, customer experience and the impact of MTN Ghana Foundation on the Ghanaian economy.
