A tragedy struck at Twifo Praso during a Christmas celebration when a Toyota Corolla with registration number CR-141-15 plowed into a crowd, injuring at least nine people, including a 4-year-old child.

The accident occurred around 8 pm on Thursday at Twifo Praso Polyclinic Junction, with eyewitnesses attributing the cause to overspeeding and brake failure.

Seven of the victims have been treated and discharged from the Twifo Praso Government Hospital.

However, a 4-year-old girl suffered severe burns when the vehicle hit a hot boiling cooking oil by the roadside and fell on her.

She, along with one other victim, remains hospitalized.

The police and fire service rescue officials responded to the scene, and the vehicle was towed to the police station for further investigation.

Despite this, no arrest has been made, sparking concerns from the family of the 4-year-old child.

They allege that the police are reluctant to investigate due to the vehicle’s connection to a police officer.

The family is calling on the police administration to take immediate action, address their concerns, and ensure justice is served. The police are yet to comment on the incident.

The Twifo Praso District Commander, Superintendent Addae Boateng, has refuted claims that the police are neglecting their investigation into the case.

According to Superintendent Boateng, a team of police officers visited the victims at the hospital to assess the extent of their injuries, took their statements, towed the accident vehicle to the station, and issued a medical form.

This, he assures, is evident that the investigation is actively ongoing.

He assured the victims that justice would be served in due course and urged them to remain patient and cooperate with the investigation process.
