Police arrest two Narcotics Suspects, reject GHC 100,000 Bribe

The Agona Swedru District Police Command has intercepted a taxi cab containing 154 compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drugs.

The taxi with registration number GR 2932-26 was driven by suspect Godfred Acquah, age 28 with his accomplice, Awudu Usman, age 34.

According to the Public Affairs unit of the Central Regional Police Command, the items were seized during a police operation at Agona Asafo and Agona Kwesitsukwaa road.

“During the operation, the team intercepted a taxi cab with registration number GR 2932-26, driven by suspect Godfred Acquah, age 28 with his accomplice, Awudu Usman, age 34. A search conducted on the vehicle, led to the discovery of 154 compressed slabs in 4 nylon sacks containing dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drugs concealed in the taxi cab”, the police reported.

The police disclosed, that further search conducted in suspect Awudu Usman’s residence at Asisim in Agona Swedru also uncovered an additional 55 slabs totalling 209 compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drugs, which he claimed ownership of.

Suspects offered Ghc 100,000 as a bribe to the police but it was rejected.

The suspects were arrested and would be put before court, according to the police.
