Africa Media Globe Inaugurates First Executive Committee
---Pledges to Retell Africa’s Story with Truth, Pride, and Hope

The Africa Media Globe (AMG)has officially inaugurated its first Executive Committee, marking what its leaders describe as a “historic step” toward reshaping Africa’s narrative on the global stage.
The AMG comprises journalists and communication officers who were trained by the RNTC Media Training Centre in the Netherlands.
RNTC, the internationally renowned training centre of RNW Media, provides media training and capacity strengthening for social change.
In her inaugural address, AMG President Ms. Shirley Asiedu-Addo underscored the organization’s mission to shift Africa’s global perception from one dominated by “war, famine, and disease” to one that highlights the continent’s resilience, potential, and achievements.
“Our mandate is clear: to retell Africa’s story with truth, pride, and hope,” Ms. Asiedu-Addo said.
“For too long, the world has seen Africa mainly through the lens of negativity, while refusing to place the Africa of gold, uranium, diamonds, oil, waterfalls, and beautiful, resilient people where it should be. This must change. We must change it.”
She emphasized the need for small but deliberate actions to counter misinformation and amplify Africa’s successes through initiatives such as AfricaNow and strategic collaborations with institutions including the African Union (AU) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Those inducted into office included Ms. Shirley Asiedu-Addo as President, Judith Kukunda as Vice President of the Africa Media Group, Olatokewa Ayoade as Vice President for West Africa, Lilipearl Baaba Otoo as Public Relations and Communications Officer, Mortalla Diop as Assistant General Secretary for Francophone Africa, Charles Sylvanus Boye as Secretary General, Immaculate Amony as Assistant Secretary General, AbouelHassan Abdelsattar as the Representative of North Africa, and David A. Yates as Assistant Public Relations and Communications Officer.
The leadership was sworn in by Hon. Judge Mavis Kwainoe, who commended the group’s vision and urged them to lead with transparency and accountability.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Ms. Asiedu-Addo reaffirmed AMG’s commitment to becoming a trusted and respected media platform across Africa.
“As the Executive Committee, our responsibility is to provide direction, transparency, and service to our members. To achieve this, we must be disciplined, collaborative, and innovative so that AMG quickly becomes a respected and trusted platform across the continent,” she stated.
She concluded with a rallying call: “The world is waiting for Africa’s story. We are Africans, and no one can tell Africa’s story better than us. Let’s get to work. Let’s do this together.”
