Assin Tsehentse Community Gets Potable Water at last

Story: Kofi Tutu

Residents of Assin-Tsehentse, a farming community in the Assin South District of the Central Region, have heaved a big sigh of relief, following the provision of a mechanized borehole.

The water system will serve the nearly 3,000 residents of the area with accessible potable drinking water.

The intervention followed a publication by kofitutunews.com about the unhealthy nature of the source of water in the community.

For many, the issue of rural dwellers in Ghana drinking water from unhygienic sources is not new.

However, the contaminated nature of the main source of water at Assin-Tsehentse was deeply shocking.

The polluted river (Afia Kwakyewah)  was the only source of water for drinking in the community, resulting in serious health implications.

But the situation left the residents with no option than to use the contaminated water for their daily activities.

The saddening spectacle attracted the attention of the Independent Parliamentary Candidate of Assin South, Joseph Kofi Damtse, who facilitated the construction of a mechanized borehole for the community through an Islamic Society.

He helped repair the old borehole as well.

Upon completion, Mr Kofi Damtse expressed joy for being able to bring smiles to people’s faces.

The residents, most of whom were seeing clean water for the first time,  were thankful to the Independent Parliamentary candidate and promised to keep the facility in good shape.
