Palmwine Tapper Allegedly Beats Wife to Death Over Funeral Food Dispute

A heart-wrenching incident that occurred at Assin Adubiase in the Assin South District of the Central Region has allegedly resulted in the untimely death of 42-year-old Yaa Kyeiwaa.
According to rumors, the deceased’s husband Agya Badu allegedly subjected her to severe beatings following a heated argument over food served at a funeral.
The dispute reportedly began when Yaa Kyeiwaa, the deceased refused to take food for the husband after making donations at the funeral on his behalf.
The husband, now the widower, after realizing the wife’s death also attempted suicide but was saved by the people around.
A committee member of Assin Adubiase, Nana Antwi, shared with Rich FM and Angel News’ Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack the details of the incident as recounted by the deceased’s daughter when he visited the family.
“This tragic incident is not an isolated event. It is alleged that the widower, Agya Badu, has a history of physically abusing his wife, Yaa Kyeiwaa”.
The committee member revealed that the widower had consistently accused his wife (the deceased) of infidelity and that had been a major source of conflict between the couple.
Meanwhile, Mr Obed Adu Sarkodie, the Assemblymember of Assin Adubiase electoral area, shed more light on the tragic incident.
According to him, preliminary reports suggested that the deceased, Yaa Kyeiwaa, had been suffering from high blood pressure.
“That made it difficult to ascertain whether her death was directly caused by the beatings from her husband or her pre-existing medical condition”.
However, Mr Sarkodie did confirm that the deceased had been a victim of consistent beatings by her husband.
He disclosed that he and his committee members had intervened in several instances to resolve the disputes, sadly, the beatings continued.
Mr Sarkodie used the opportunity to advise women to prioritize safety and seek help, if they experience domestic violence.
However, Angel News and Rich FM News confirmed that no official report had been made to any police station within the Assin enclave regarding this incident, as of the time of filing this report.
