Nine ‘illegal’ miners dead as a result of violent clash with military men in Obuasi

Nine illegal miners are reported dead, with many others injured following a violent clash with some military men in Obuasi on Sunday.
Videos circulating on social media show a blazing fire at the scene amid chaos.
In one of the videos, a narrator claims the incident took place in the Obuasi Mangoase area, although details remain unclear.
Some eyewitnesses have reported that many illegal miners had entered one of the Anglogold Ashanti mine shafts when they encountered armed military personnel assigned to provide security for the mining operation.
Reports indicate that three miners who sustained gunshot wounds were transported to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but unfortunately did not survive.
Some videos and photos shared on social media also shows several bodies scattered on the floor at various places.
In one video, an armed soldier was seen standing by some of the bodies scattered on the floor.
Another video shows people trying to identify the deceased in what is suspected to be a mortuary.
The injured are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals.
