Court remands two suspects in Assin-Adansi Praso disturbances

The Assin Fosu Magistrate Court presided by His Worship Abdul Majid Illiasu has remanded two suspects in connection with Assin Praso and Adansi Praso youth clash.
The suspects Isaac Amponsah, a.k.a Silicone, and Domnic Appiah a.k.a Apeatus, both aged 20 years are expected to reappear on 2Oth January 2023.
Background
It would be recalled that Rich Fm and Angel Fm/TV Reporter, Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack reported that on Thursday 22nd December 2022 at about 10 am, two youth factions from Adansi Praso and Assin Praso respectively, wielding offensive weapons engaged in a fierce fighting.
The weapons used included locally manufactured guns, clubs, cutlasses, and iron bars.
The disturbances which occurred at the Assin Praso market square created fear and panic among market women and passers-by.
A team of Police officers from Assin Praso led by the Station Officer, Chief Inspector Bukari Iddrisu Iddi upon receiving the information rapidly responded to the scene but unfortunately, the rioters took to their heels.
However, two of the rioters, Isaac Amponsah and Domnic Appiah respectively who sustained various degrees of injuries were subsequently arrested at the Adansi Ataasi government hospital, where they were receiving treatment.
Both were arraigned before the District Court at Assin Fosu for the offenses of rioting with offensive weapons and Unlawful Assembly.
They were therefore remanded into police custody to reappear in Court on the 20th of January 2023 for further determination.
Meanwhile, the police have assured that efforts are underway by the Assin Praso police command to locate the hideouts of their accomplices to face the full rigors of the law to deter others from engaging in similar attacks.
