Assin Central: NDC Accuses NPP of Engaging In Vote Buying During Special Voting

The Assin Central branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of engaging in vote-buying tactics to influence voters during the special voting exercise for the 2024 general elections.

The Constituency Secretary, Sadique Yeboah Broni claimed that a house belonging to a well-known NPP member, Mr. Bonney, was being used as a hub for distributing money to voters.

Mr. Sadique Broni said the NPP had desperately resorted to vote buying due to what he described as their “abysmal performance”, which had plunged Ghanaians into unprecedented hardship.

He therefore urged voters to accept the money, but ultimately cast their ballots against the NPP on December 7 to rescue Ghana from its current struggles.

Meanwhile, some supporters of the NDC also accused the NPP Deputy Nasara coordinator, Dr. Inusah, of distributing monies ranging from ¢200 to ¢500 to influence voters in his car, which was close to the polling station.

However, the Nasaara Coordinator, Dr. Inusah, reacting to the allegations denied them and instead accused the NDC parliamentary candidate, Shaibu Nurein Migyimah, of distributing money instead to a group of people during the voting process.

The special voting exercise in Assin Central ended successfully, with an impressive 88% voter turnout, according to officials.

Although the process was largely smooth, a few disturbances did occur, causing minor disruptions.
