An Aspiring NPP parliamentary candidate for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Constituency, Mr. Samuel Kofi Dentu has stated that KEEA NPP has struggled for years to snatch the seat from the NDC, after the tenure of Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, who won the seat for NPP in 2012 to no avail.

Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem constituency is a stronghold for the NDC.

The seat has been the preserve of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) since 1992, when Dr. Ato Quarshie won the seat for the NDC.

He retained the KEEA seat through to 2004, when Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum, Founder of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) won it on the ticket of the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur, Head of Local Government Service however won the seat in 2012, after the NDC’s Dr Joseph Samuel Annan captured the seat from the CPP in 2008.

Information gathered, indicates that  KEEA NPP used to chase people to contest for the seat on the ticket of NPP.

Mr Dentu believes that the number of  aspirants vying to become parliamentary candidate for the party this time round is an indication that God will come through for KEEA NPP to win the seat come 2024.

The aspiring parliamentary candidate however claims that he is the best candidate to win the seat for the party.

“I strongly believe that God will use me to make history for NPP in KEEA by winning the seat for the second time”.

Mr. Kofi Dentu who doubles as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the Ghana Export Promotion Authority was speaking to the media, when he officially picked nomination forms to contest the upcoming NPP Parliamentary Primaries.

The KEEA Constituency Secretary of NPP, Mr. Francis Kwaw Asmah says he sees 2023 NPP parliamentary primary in KEEA constituency as being unique from the previous years where the party in KEEA used to chase people to contest for the seat on the ticket of NPP.

“Since 1992 I have been a witness but this year’s parliamentary primaries is far different unlike that of the past where NPP executives in KEEA chased people within the party to contest for the seat”, Mr. Kwaw Asmah hinted.

“I am happy that today people are rather rushing to pick up nomination forms to contest for the parliamentary primaries in KEEA.

The four aspirants contesting for the NPP parliamentary primary in KEEA encourage us that there is hope for NPP in KEEA”, Mr. Kwaw Asmah lamented.

He cautioned followers of all the aspirants to refrain from engaging in verbal attacks during their campaign.

On his part, the Campaign Manager to Mr Dentu, Mr. Robert Amoah Spanky promised to ensure a clean campaign to help the party snatch the seat from the NDC.
