Cocoa labourer allegedly murdered at Dominase

Fear gripped residents of Dominase in the Assin South District of the Central Region, following an alleged murder of a 28-year-old man on Tuesday 10th January, 2023.

The deceased identified as Kwaku Emmanuel, before his demise worked with a renowned Cocoa Purchasing Company in the Assin South District as a cocoa carrier.

The mother of the deceased, Yaa Mansa, 65, in an interview with Rich Fm and Angel FM/TV Reporter Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack disclosed, that her son left home around 10 pm on Monday, 9th January, 2023 for Assin Fosu after having taken his supper.

Only for them to discover the next morning, that the deceased had been brutally murdered and dumped on the outskirt of the town with bruises on his face and blood oozing from the nostrils.

A plier was also found near the dead body.

The cause of his death was not known but it had attracted mixed reactions, as some suspected it could be as a result of a misunderstanding.

Others however alleged it could be a contract killing orchestrated by his girlfriend due to a recent altercation between the deceased and his girlfriend.

Meanwhile, the Kyidomhene of Assin Dominase, Nana Kwame Akapong who was shocked at the situation asserted that “this is the first time such an incident has occurred in the area”.

He however called on the police to intensify patrol in the area to scare away criminals.

A team of Police Officers led by Chief Superintendent Cephas Arthur, the Assin Fosu District Police Commander, upon hearing the news rushed to the crime scene to convey the body to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

Investigation has since been initiated into the matter to unravel the cause of death.

According to the police, further checks found a school bag 60 meters away from the dead body, containing three balls of kenkey, a stabilizer, and a Blue tooth speaker and same had been kept as exhibits.

They, therefore, appealed to the residents and the general public to assist the police with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
