In a bid to contribute towards this year’s Aboakyir Festival, celebrated by the chiefs and people of Effutu Traditional area, telcos giant, MTN Ghana has presented a Cash amount of GHC 15,000, airtime worth GHC 1,000 and drink hampers among others to the Effutu Traditional Council.
MTN Ghana has been executing its social responsibility through festivals across the country, construction of projects to complement government’s efforts among other social interventions, courtesy MTN Ghana Foundation.
The SouthWest Regional Manager for MTN, Prince Owusu Nyarko, who led the team to present the items at Winneba, indicated that “our support goes beyond just financial contributions”.
He maintained that “MTN believes in investing in the people in our communities”.
Hence, programs like MTN Ghana Foundation, which provides funding for various types of community development projects, including those focused on education, health, and economic empowerment.
“In the Central Region, some of these projects include ICT Learning Center at the University of Cape Coast to enhance the digital skills of students and staff, Blood Bank at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Girls Dormitory Block at Apam Senior High School, Scholarships to brilliant but needy students to enable them to pursue their education in the University of Education Winneba and University of Cape Coast”.
Mr Owusu Nyarko continued that
“we have built and furnished computer labs in schools, donated and supported hospitals with medical equipment, and provided training and startup capital to small businesses”.
The Southwest Regional Manager of MTN believes that these types of initiatives can help lay the foundation for sustainable community development.
He assured the chiefs of the company’s participation in the Aboakyir Festival and as such bringing MTN products and services closer to their doorsteps.
“We encourage everyone to visit our stands for all their customer service needs and give feedback”.
The Paramount Chief of Effutu Traditional Area, Neenyi Ghartey, thanked MTN for the kind gesture.
