Personnel from the Ghana Police Service Cyber Security Unit, with assistance from the Kade Police, have arrested five suspects in connection with the assault of Michael Quayson, a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School in the Kwaebibirim Municipality.

The arrests were made on Monday, January 5, 2026, when the suspects, who reportedly traveled from Accra, arrived in Kade as part of ongoing investigations into the incident, which occurred last year.

Confirming the development to Citi News, Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Awoonor Yevu Godwin, said the suspects are scheduled to be arraigned before the Kade Circuit Court this morning.

The Police Cyber Security Unit has been leading inquiries into the assault, reflecting the Service’s commitment to investigating crimes against educators and ensuring accountability.

MEANWHILE;

The family of Michael Quayson,  has called for justice after he was ambushed and brutally assaulted by eight students, including some former students of the school.

The incident occurred on October 5, 2025, between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., when Quayson was returning home from town.

According to the family, the attackers pounced on him when he stopped near his house to urinate. Hearing the commotion, relatives rushed outside, but the students fled the scene.

It remains unclear what may have provoked the attack, but reliable information available to Citi News indicates that the teacher’s only “offence” was his strict discipline on campus and his vigilance during the recent WASSCE examinations.

The assault was reported to the Kade Police, leading to the arrest of one student after a video of the attack went viral on social media. The suspect has since been granted bail, a development that has heightened concerns among teachers in the Kwaebibirem Municipality.
