The Omanhen of Edina Traditional Area, Nana Kodwo Conduah VI, has given MTN Ghana full access to trade in any place of their choice in the area.

He thus commended MTN Ghana for the immense support it continued to provide the Traditional Council during every Bakatue.

Bakatue Festival is celebrated by the chiefs and people of Edina Traditional Area in the Central Region of Ghana.

The weeklong Festival commences with the opening of the Lagoon (Bakatue) on the first Tuesday of July, after a month ban on fishing in the lagoon.

Rights are then performed at the banks of the lagoon to officially pave way for fishing in the lagoon, after which a regatta is organized for fishing boats to compete and a winner is awarded.

Tradition has it that the number of fish caught, after the first net is cast determines whether fishermen would experience bumper catch or not.

Nana Kodwo Conduah was impressed about MTN’s unbroken partnership to this rich Culture of the people of Edina.

The Paramount Chief of Edina Traditional Area made the statement, when MTN Ghana supported the Traditional Council with a cheque for GHC 10,000 and a drink hamper among others.

“As the President of Edina Traditional Council, I am always with MTN, I continue to advertise for MTN and as such a number of the Fishermen and fishmongers use MTN to trade”, he underscored.

The Omanhen requested a number of items from MTN and indicated that “our Festival is business, hence, we would require branded MTN chairs and canopies to do more advertisement for the Company”.

The Central and Western Regional Area Sales Manager for MTN Ghana, David Woasey, who made the donation towards the Bakatue Festival on behalf of MTN,  emphasized that the gesture was part of the company’s programme to promote the African Heritage.

“Our visit to Edinaman today reinforces our commitment to festivals across the country”.

He stressed that MTN would set-up in the various communities in the Traditional area to promote MTN’s products and services.

“We would also ensure that there is good customer experience in terms of our service delivery and enhance the internet performance as well”.
