Every Student deserves to get the best Education-Fanta Aw

The Executive Director and CEO of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, Dr Fanta Aw has stressed the importance of international education and the benefits it provides, indicating that “Internationalization is necessary in the 21st century”.
“I am a product of international education and I understood the opportunity that it afforded me and it led me to believe that Every single student deserves to get the best education and deserves to be at the best institution and the University of Cape Coast is an example of an excellent University”, she underscored.
Dr Fanta Aw made the statement, when she gave a lecture at the University of Cape Coast.
it was on the topic: “Advancing International Education Exchange-Partnership between African Higher Educational Institutions and NAFSA: Association of International Educators”.
The lecture explored the strategic importance of global engagement with African Higher Education institutions, focusing on the mutual benefits of partnerships and the role of organizations like NAFSA.
It also highlighted the importance of sustainable, equitable partnerships that respect Africa’s unique context, while enabling institutions to thrive in a competitive global education ecosystem.
Dr Fanta Aw acknowledged the role of universities as essential to societal development.
“As an organization, we work with universities across the globe and our work is strictly focused on internationalization of universities”.
“Every university has to think of itself as an international university because there’s no one discipline that would solve the societal problems of our time”, she pointed out.
Maintaining that interdisciplinary learning is one of the ways to solve some of the critical issues of our time.
The Executive Director of NAFSA challenged students to make the best of their education in order to make positive contribution towards the development of society.
Dr Fanta Aw further noted that “Africa is the renaissance of the world”, and called for the need to ensure that “this generation of young people are prepared for the challenges ahead”.
“There are several opportunities ahead such as students exchange programs and over 624,,000 African students are pursuing higher education abroad. A major increase when you compare to 2010 and it’s a good development for Africa”.
She thus called for the need to figure out how the exchange programmes could be accelerated and leverage opportunities through curricula internationalization among others.
