MTN was a lifesaver- UCC Bachelor of Medicine Graduate recounts

Dr Belinda Obour Mensah just graduated from the University of Cape Coast with Bachelor of Medicine (MBChB) and recounts how MTN Emotive Scholarship, a subsidiary of Bright Scholarship saved her from dropping out of School.

“I lost my guardian who was taking care of my education and all hope were lost. Through my roommate and her parents, I got to know of MTN Bright Scholarship. I applied but I got the Emotive scholarship”, she explained.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the UCC 56th Congregation, Dr Belinda Obour Mensah stated that the scholarship covered her school fees and was given a stipend to cater for her needs.

“Initially, when I lost my guardian, it was tough for me but it became bearable, after knowing that you wouldn’t need to worry about school fees because you’re assured that every year,  your fees would be paid”, the fresh medical doctor underscored.

Dr Belinda Obour Mensah disclosed that “MTN was a lifesaver to me personally because I was so desperate at the point I met MTN. It saved my life because it made me focused on my education throughout the five-year period”.

Dr Belinda Obour Mensah and eleven other beneficiaries of MTN Bright Scholarship, who graduated from the University of Cape Coast including; Emmanuel Bambel, a First Class BCOM Accounting graduate were grateful to MTN for the support.

MTN Bright scholarship has so far supported over eight hundred needy but brilliant students since its establishment in 2017.

The programme sponsors about a hundred students with financial needs every year and a number of the beneficiary students get the opportunity to do their internship and National Service with MTN.

In an interview, the Education Portfolio Advisor for MTN Ghana Foundation, George Kyei Frimpong indicated that MTN would continue to support the education of the needy but brilliant students in the country as part of the company’s social responsibility.
