
The Vice President of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang has donated assorted food items to the various Muslim sects in Cape Coast to support the Islamic holy month of fasting.
The Central Regional Minister, Mr Ekow Panyin, who presented the items on behalf of the Vice President, urged the beneficiary Muslims to use the items for the intended purpose.
He stressed that the gesture was an annual routine by the Vice President, which she had been doing every Ramadan and that this year’s was not an exception.
The Minister used the opportunity to advice Muslims on the need to attach importance to hygiene and ensure a clean environment at all times due to the recent cholera outbreak in the region.
He announced a reward for the cleanest community in the Central Region to help clamp down cholera and its related diseases.
The Central Regional Minister was accompanied by the Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Prof Richard Asiedu among other executives of the NDC.
The Sarki Zongo, Mahmoud Dandi Masawagi III, who received the items on behalf of the Muslims thanked the Vice President for the kind gesture.
He acknowledged the immense contribution of the NDC and Prof Naana Opoku Agyemang to the Muslim community and pledged to continue to remember the Party in prayers.
